Exploring Earlier Futures is a visual investigation into the alternate creation stories echoed across ancient cultures worldwide. Mear draws from Sumerian tablets, Mayan glyphs, and Vedic texts to paint a picture of a lost race of red-haired, elongated-skull humanoids—potential progenitors of the megalithic sites that defy modern explanation. These beings appear in mythologies separated by oceans and centuries, yet share strikingly similar details. Were they the Annunaki, the gods who seeded humanity? If so, what does that mean for our understanding of evolution, identity, and the long arc of human history? This artwork acts as both a question and a key, unlocking the possibility that our past is far older—and stranger—than we’ve been led to believe.
